Aims and Objectives

Working within the outputs framework of 'Every Child Matters' we aim to ensure all young people have the chance to make informed choices about their lives and:

Stay Safe
Be Healthy
Enjoy and Achieve
Make a Positive Contribution
Achieve Economic Wellbeing

Our goal is to work alongside colleagues and young people with the strong commitment to give these young people the best possible start to their adult life. We will do everything in our power to make sure that the young people leave us with a sound basic education, and a comprehensive idea about cooking skills and dietary input.

Also we aim to support the young people around monetary issues and how to be good neighbours and tenants. We have special funds, some one-off payments for work clothing, educational grants, etc. We will consider any young person; we do not discriminate against fire-raisers, Schedule 1 Offenders or any young person who has had difficulties in any area of their emotional life.

We also aim to give young parents and their children a really good supportive environment where they can develop a warm, caring family environment and where we stop the revolving door syndrome of children being fostered or placed on the At Risk Register.

Our Objectives

We are committed to achieving the best possible outcomes, providing an experienced, high performance and high quality service to both young people and local authorities. Our objectives are:
  • To ensure our service is of a high quality, keeping our staff team equipped with the experience, qualifications, knowledge and skills to deliver a quality service to young people. We actively promote service user participation in the development of the service and provide local authorities with cost effective services which reduce fees for young people as they gain independence
  • To Support young people in times of crisis through the path to independent living and adulthood and enable care leavers with complex needs to gain their own tenancy at the age of 18 if appropriate.
  • To assist our client group to gain the confidence and practical skills needed for successful independent living, enabling the most vulnerable care leavers to become independent over a period of time and ensure young parents have the support information and access to health and other relevant organisations to meet their needs.
  • To assist young people in improving their life chances and economic well being by actively encouraging the uptake of employment, education and training.
  • To help young people to be safe and healthy, to enjoy and achieve and to make a positive contribution to their communities.
  • To access and develop suitable accommodation across the Region for care leavers, which may otherwise be out of their reach.
  • To utilise the most relevant and up to date research, resources, policy and guidance on care leavers issues to facilitate the best outcomes for the young people.
